Gynecological Services
From vaginal infections and premenstrual syndrome to serious menstrual disorders, all aspects of diagnosis, management, and treatment of gynecologic disorders will be covered.
Menopausal health: Counseling about all aspects of menopause is available at
Soundside Healthcare. Safer options of therapy including bio-identical hormone
therapy and alternatives to estrogen are routinely offered.
Contraception:
All options for female contraception are available, including oral
contraceptives, the Mirena IUD, Implanon and permanent surgical tubal ligation.
Infertility:
Basic infertility evaluation and ovulation induction are available. For more
advanced infertility, referral will be made to North Carolina
Center for Reproductive Medicine in Cary N. C.
Pelvic
ultrasound: State of the art ultrasound is available in the office and is
essential for the proper diagnosis and management of gynecologic disorders.
Colposcopy:
Management and treatment of an abnormal PAP smear requires different types of
specialized equipment, all of which are available at Soundside Healthcare.
Breast
cancer screening: Mammograms are obtained through Atlantic Diagnostic or the
Imaging Center, (run by Carteret General Hospital). Digital mammography is coming soon.
Osteoporosis
screening: Bone density screening will be obtained through Atlantic Diagnostic
or the office of Dr. Mary Katherine Lawrence. Dr. Rawls is certified to read
bone density studies.
Evaluation and treatment of overactive bladder & urinary
incontinence: standard drug therapy, effective nutraceuticals and surgical
therapy are available.
