Healthy Resources

Meditation For Beginners, by Gaiam with Martiza  DVD  ISBN 1-930814-99-2

This is the best introductory guide I have found for learning relaxation techniques.  It starts with a simple yoga workout geared toward relaxation, followed by an exercise in total body relaxation, and ends with an exercise to relax the mind through meditation.

Meditation for Dummies,by Stephan Bodian,  ISBN 0-7645-5116-7

If you are interested in meditation or any purpose, this is truly the best book I have found on the topic.

The Relaxation & Stress Workbook, Martha Davis, Ph.D., Elizabeth Robbins Eshelman, M.S.W., Matthew McKay, Ph.D., ISBN 1-57224-214-0

This useful book presents a complete catalog of all the different relaxation techniques.

Breaking the Vicious Cycle,by Elaine Gloria Gottschal,  ISBN 0969276818

Anyone with any type of gastrointestinal disorder should absolutely read this book.  The author also has some interesting ideas about the connection between autism and diet.

30 Secrets of the World’s Healthiest Cuisines,  by Steven Jonas and Sandra J. Gordon,  ISBN  0471352632

Cooking Light,  Magazine and book series.  A very good resource for healthy recipes.

Foods That Fight Pain,by Neal Barnard, M.D.  ISBN 0-609-80436-7

There is a definite connection between food and conditions that cause pain.

Natural Health, Natural Medicine, Andrew Weil, M.D., ISBN 0-395-91155-9

This is one of the books that started the new movement toward healthy living.

No More Sleepless Nights, Peter Hauri, Ph.D., Shirley Linde, Ph.D., ISBN 0-471-14904-7

I do not agree with all the conclusions made by the authors, but this is still a must read for anyone with chronic insomnia.

Boundless Healing, Tulku Thondup, ISBN 1-57062-574-3,ISBN 1-57062-878-5

This is a must read for anyone with a serious medical condition such as cancer.

The Healthiest Diet in the World, Nikki Goldbeck, David Goldbeck, ISBN 0-525-94282-3

They over-do-it a bit with soy, but this is a good basic layperson’s book for understanding nutrition.

Freedom From Fibromyalgia, Nancy Selfridge, M.D., ISBN 0-8129-3375-3

A must read for anyone with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia.

Healing Fibroids, A Doctor’s Guide to Natural Care, by Allan Warshowsky M.D., ISBN 0-7434-1824-7

For some motivated individuals this may be an answer to dealing with fibroids.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff, and it’s all small stuff,  by Richard Carlson, Ph.D,  ISBN 0-7868-8185

Day to day guidelines that all of us could benefit from.

Women’s Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine,by Tori Hudson,  ISBN 0-87983-788-8
